Welcome to Nashville!

Nashville is known as Music City, and that’s something we are definitely proud of, however, we have more to offer now than ever before. Notable chefs and restaurants, shopping and Eclectic neighborhoods are drawing more and more people to what is currently the “It City.”

Interior Inspiration – SeriesHave you seen the new home collection from H&M? During my daily search for Pinterest inspiration, I came across the image below from Bright Bazaar Blog, and found it so beautiful and soothing. I am loving the mix of neutral blacks and grays with pale colors like pink & smoky blue. There are also great patterns with a mix of texture such as velvet & linen. All of this at a price that won't have me crying when my dog decides to use one of the pillows as his bed, or my son uses the same as a weapon against his older sister....

Interior InspirationWhile searching for inspiration for my Family Room, I came across some FAB finds this week! The Threshold collection at Target right now is great! I'm currently loving bold prints combined with brighter solids, like the pillows you'll find below from One Kings Lane & West Elm. I think they would look great with the Restoration Hardware wingback chair, which is on sale! Etsy has quickly become my go-to for great design at affordable prices.

No More To Go Weekly Meal Planning – Monday Giveaway!Every week I tell myself that I'm going to cook more at home and eat out less. Sounds good in theory, but, implementing this idea definitely takes planning. More often than not, I find myself picking up take-out on my way home from the gym, or in-between my kids practices, games, etc…I know a lot of you deal with the same issue. About a year ago, I stumbled across the No More To Go website, and I'm so happy to be able to share it with you!

Home Renovation – Choosing the Perfect White PaintIt all started one fateful weekend…..I was on a girl's trip, my husband was home with the kids. YES, we had a brand new King Headboard in storage that I'd had for months, but, like everything else, deliberating over exactly which mattress to purchase kept it sitting where it was…Well, my husband decided to do some rearranging while I was gone….forcing my hand so to speak! I returned home from my girl's weekend to find my bed gone - moved to my daughter's room - and the lone headboard sitting where my bed used to be. Deep breath in…..After my initial bout of unhappiness about my family's "rearranging" project while I was gone, I had a vision…It was time to renovate this house. Our house is almost 20 yrs old, we've been here 7, this was the catalyst for change…

Entertaining Made Easy!I love hosting parties and get-togethers in my home. A noisy house full of people, laughter, & good food is honestly one of my favorite things! However, I'm finding that a lot of people don't enjoy doing it themselves because they find it stressful and intimidating. It definitely doesn't have to be, and I'm hoping this post gives you tips on throwing a stress-free, fun dinner or cocktail party of your own!

Weekend in ChicagoThis past weekend, my husband and I enjoyed a quick, weekend trip to Chicago. An added plus was hanging out with Heidy! (ALR's Chicago editor). We attended a birthday celebration and after-party at two really cool spots, Barrelhouse Flat & Three Dots and a Dash. And, it's not a trip to Chicago without eating at one of my favorite local hangouts, Big Star.

Inspiring ArtWhen I stumbled upon paintings by Clare Elsaesser, on Pinterest, I spent the next hour studying her work. I can honestly say I loved every piece....It's relatable in the fact that you can almost feel yourself in her paintings. The colors she uses evokes such raw emotion that completely draws you into that space and moment.

Holiday Card DisplaysOne of my favorite things about the Holidays is receiving all of the cards. There are the ones you look forward to every year - showing children a year older, fun family vacations , weddings, new additions, etc.. Then, there's the excitement of receiving a card from someone new. That card may read a simple "Merry Christmas," or, it may give you a glimpse into their lives, with pictures and details of their families….Either way, I feel special to have received them, and look forward to displaying each and every one of them.

Tennessee ChristmasOne of my favorite Christmas traditions is visiting the Opryland Hotel. It's truly picturesque with over 2 million lights, and stunning decorations. For the past few years, they've featured an exhibit called ICE!, an interactive storybook made from two million pounds of ice that you actually walk through! This year's theme is Frosty the Snowman (one of my faves) and is truly amazing! My niece is starring in the promotional ads and commercials, which makes it even more enticing:)

Comfort FoodToday, I had the pleasure of hanging out with my teenage daughter. In between snacking, laughing, and crying, (we watched The Vow AND The Notebook...Yikes...) I decided to make lunch. I'll admit, I haven't been to the store in a while, and was totally prepared to order pizza until I saw a box of penne in the pantry. Using basic staples I already had in my refrigerator and pantry, I made a pasta dish that is not only comfort food at its best, but can also be ready in the time it takes to boil pasta. Less than 15 minutes!
